Common Name: Upright European Hornbeam
This densely conical form of Hornbeam is a fantastic very hardy narrow growing deciduous tree. It has beautiful fine toothed green leaves through spring and summer that turn yellow for autumn before dropping let the winter sun in.
Ideal for avenue plantings, windbreaks, narrow lateral spaces where height is desired and because they tolerate a hard prune well they also make wonderful hedging plants.
Carpinus prefer full sun and well drained fertile soil. Mulch well to help keep the roots cool in summer.
