Common Name: Hiryu
'Hiryu' is an evergreen hardy shrub, closely related to Camellia sasanqua (a very hardy form of Camellia). . It has dark green glossy leaves and produces an abundance of large, semi-double, deep pink flowers throughout late autumn and winter. The flowers are fragrant.
'Hiryu' is ideal for hedging and screening although it takes a while. It makes a great specimen plant and can be grown in large containers. It will grow in full sun and thrives in morning sun or part shade. 'Hiryu' prefers well drained, slightly acid, fertile soil; 'Hiryu' needs to be mulched well to keep roots moist and cool in summer.
