Common Name: 'Pincushion Hakea'
'Pin Cushion' is a very hardy, evergreen, native shrub and so named because of the flowers. It has ball-like red flowers with creamy-white styles that appear in autumn and winter. They stand out beautifully against the green leathery leaves.
They are grown for their stunning flower display, hardiness, bird attracting ability and usefulness as a screen and windbreak. 'Pin Cushion' grows well in an open sunny position and prefers well drained soil.
It will tolerate coastal conditions, cold, and dry periods once established.
