A very hardy, long lived, slow growing evergreen tree, with grey-green foliage. Olives produce large numbers of creamy white flowers during spring that turn into green fruit which ripen to black through summer and autumn which adds interest to the overall look of the plant.

The Olive tree has been grown for centuries for its fruit. 'Manzanillo' produces great fruit for the table as well as for oil production if so desired. Now days most Olives are planted for there ornamental look and their durability and versatility.

You can use them as a feature tree in the garden, espaliered on a fence line or in a large tub or planter box. Olives enjoy being pruned so they can be 'Standardised' or make excellent hedges.

For best results they need full sun and will adapt to a wide range of soil types as long as there is good drainage. They will grow well by the coast and take light frosts.
