Common Name: Portuguese Laurel
This is a very hardy evergreen, large shrub or small tree. It has beautiful dark green glossy leaves with the new growth being lighter in colour. Small white, fragrant flowers appear in spring on slender spikes and follow with red/purple berries through the summer.
The Portuguese Laurel is extensively used as a medium sized hedge or screen, feature specimens and can also be used as a small shade tree. They also look wonderful as standards.
Portugal Laurel loves full sun or part sun and tolerates most soil conditions. Well drained is preferable. Tolerates frost and will cope with coastal exposure.
